Welcome to Kuala Lumpur!

Start your adventure in the heart of Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, where you'll be staying for three nights. This bustling city is a perfect mix of modern skyscrapers, iconic landmarks like the Petronas Towers, and rich cultural diversity. Wander through vibrant markets, marvel at historical temples, and indulge in street food like nasi lemak. Take in both the modern and traditional sides of KL as you explore sights like Batu Caves, Chinatown, and Jalan Alor.

Taman Negara - a rainforest adventure

On day #4, you'll be taken from the big city, and dive straight into the wild with a visit to Taman Negara, one of the oldest rainforests on Earth. You’ll trek through dense jungle paths, cross the Canopy Walk for unbeatable views above the trees, and take part in a thrilling night jungle walk. Look out for wildlife ranging from tiny stick insects to majestic creatures like tapirs and exotic birds. This is nature at its most raw and untouched, offering a true rainforest experience. You'll be staying in Taman Negara for two nights, so you can really explore the area.

Learn all about tea in the Cameron Highlands

Next up is a visit to the Cameron Highlands, a refreshing retreat with rolling green tea plantations and cooler temperatures. Here, you'll enjoy a chill visit to the famous BOH Tea Plantation for a “Tea Talk” amidst stunning green landscapes, followed by an adventure in the magical Mossy Forest, home to unique plants like the pitcher plant and exotic orchids. In the Cameron Highlands you will also get 2 nights for a peaceful break from the city heat, as it's the perfect place for nature lovers.

Welcome to Borneo: Kota Kinabalu

After your adventure in the Cameron Highlands, you'll be taken back to Kuala Lumpur for one last night in the city. After saying goodbye to KL in the morning, you'll fly to Kota Kinabalu, the gateway to Sabah’s diverse culture and stunning coastal views. You’ll get to meet local communities in the charming Tambatuon village, learning about their traditions and cooking local dishes using fresh, farm-grown ingredients. This destination is a gentle introduction to Borneo’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Homestay in Kota Belud and River Safari in Sungai Kinabatangan 

From Kota Kinabalu, the first stop is Kota Belud, where you'll visit Tambatuon village and meet the local community. Walk to a nearby river, exploring the landscape surrounding the village along the way. Visit a local farm and gather fresh ingredients for an included dinner. Learn how to cook some local recipes with the host. You'll be staying the night in a local homestay, and experience the hospitality of the people living here.

After spending the night in Kota Belud, you'll head deep into the jungles of Borneo along the Kinabatangan River. This is a wildlife lover’s dream! Go on river safaris to spot creatures like proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, crocodiles, and countless bird species. The river’s serene yet wild atmosphere will immerse you in one of Malaysia’s most biodiverse areas, offering a true sense of adventure.

See Orangutans in Sepilok

From jungle rivers to Sepilok, a wildlife sanctuary, you’ll get a chance to meet Borneo’s famous orangutans up close at the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Learn about efforts to protect these endangered creatures, and also visit the Sun Bear Conservation Centre, which helps another of Borneo’s iconic species. This day is all about understanding the critical conservation work being done in this region.

Learn About Turtle Conservation in Pulau Libaran

End your wildlife exploration with a stay on Pulau Libaran, also known as Turtle Island. Each year, thousands and thousands of turtles pick these grounds for their nests. While visiting turtle hatcheries you'll learn about local conservation efforts. You'll also visit a local village to see what the island life here looks like. With time for snorkeling or kayaking, it's the perfect mix of relaxing and education.

End of the line: Kota Kinabalu

After your wildlife adventures, return to Kota Kinabalu for some downtime. Wander through the Filipino Market for souvenirs or sample local seafood along the waterfront. If you're up for it, and you've got the time, it might be worth it to add an extra day here to climb mount Kinabalu. Tough, but the views are so worth it once you get to the top! It’s the perfect end to a diverse, action-packed journey through Malaysia’s urban, highland, and wild sides.
