My big decision
"Last year, I decided to go on an adventure and study in the USA during my gap year. I applied to Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) in sunny California, and I got all the help I needed from Linnea, who is a study advisor at KILROY. She helped me with the application and paperwork, and she answered the thousands of questions I had about studying in California, which made me feel very safe."

Six minutes walk from the beach
"I have been studying in Santa Barbara for almost 3 months now, and I love my new everyday life as a student in California. It’s so different from my everyday life at home in Scandinavia.
Before leaving home, I made contact to three other girls via Facebook and we decided to fly together and find a place to live together. We managed to find a newly renovated apartment three minutes from Santa Barbara City College campus and six minutes walk from the beach – what’s not to like!?"
Beach life is my new life
"My spare time in California is way different than at home as I spent so much time at the beach, play beachvolley with my friends and have bonfires. The mountains surrounding Santa Barbara City College are perfect for trekking, and the huge sports field on campus, overlooking the ocean, has many good games and huge sports events to both attend and watch.
The culture in Santa Barbara is simply amazing, and the people who live here really enjoy life to the fullest, which is awesome. Take a stroll on the beach and you see surfers jumping the big waves, sailboats and swimmers."
Fun & friends in Santa Barbara
"There’s no doubt that Santa Barbara is one big student party – there are always people to hang out with and party with. Since SBCC arranges many volleyball matches, soccer matches and other sports events, it is easy to make friends. And the fact that Santa Barbara offers more than 300 sunny days a year is a big plus and makes me smile."
