The cosy city Beppu, can be found on the coast of the island Kyushu. It take an hour and a half from Tokyo to Beppu Oita Aiport or two hours from Tokyo to Fukuoka Airport. Beppu has around 125.000 inhabitants. It is the city in Japan with the most hot springs – and number two in the world – which means that millions of tourists flock to Beppu every year to experience these. There are many baths around the city of Beppu, that cater both to locals and tourists.
Beppu is beautifully situated between volcanic mountains and the seas, and it is a much smaller and calmer city than Tokyo. Despite Japan often being spoken of as a very expensive country to live in, the living expenses in Beppu are considerably lower than in other cities in Japan, which makes it an very attractive city for students.
